White spirit must be chemically stable, do not change color and composition when stored, it should not contain soluble acids, alkali, water and mechanical impurities.
White spirit is obtained by direct distillation of oil and is used mainly as a solvent in the paint and varnish industry.
In addition to white spirit, there are other solvents produced by the petroleum industry. These are different types of gasolines-solvents. They have the same properties as white spirit (narrow fractional composition, relatively high initial boiling point, low vapor density, low toxicity, lack of unsaturated hydrocarbons, good solubility with respect to film-forming, coloring and extractable substances, limited aromatic hydrocarbon content ).
